with jesus in the boat you can swim with sharks

As we ate our breakfast this morning Cadence exclaimed, "look daddy! My apples look like boats!"

I replied, "that's crazy!" "No. It's not crazy. It's awesome! Because Jesus was in the boat with his disciples," she retorted.

"Oh yeah..." I say.

With her eyes widening and eyebrows lifted she went on with her story. Raising her arms to the sky, "and the rains came down." Lowering her hands to the ground and lifting them while she spoke, "and the waves came UP!" Waving her arms in circles above her head, "and there were rain clouds sending down water."

"And you know what Jesus did?" She asked excitedly. Without waiting for a reply she went on ending with a yell..."He said to the rain STOP!"

With that flourish she ended her story.

"But what happened after Jesus said that?" I inquired.

"They all fall into the water."

"Who?"

"Jesus and his friends fell into the water and went swimming. And there were SHARKS!"

I love these kinds of stories.

The Sisters!

Well, Cadence has taken to Eden quite well as this video shows. I hope you can view it and see the sisterly love!

And if you're not familiar with my family, that's Grandma Fiegl (Aubrey's mama) holding Eden. She's blessed us with her help this whole week. Now, I know why some societies keep their families together on the same property. She's been so so so great to have with us!

And the Jeremy in the background is our summer intern. Wow, he's awesome! He's stepped up in the time when I am off with the family and I'm quite thankful for his presence here this summer!

Laughter

So, as the day winds down, Cadence gets silly. So, I caught her laughing...the movement of the camera is me coming closer to her...(obviously)...which made her laugh.

There's nothing quite as contagious as baby laughter.

Ah spoons and independence

Our baby is on her way to independence.

I think if she were to put a post on here it'd be something like this:

Well, my parents finally let me feed myself today. They're still scooping for me, but I'm putting the spoon in my mouth on my own. Soon I'll be working with Rachel Ray!

I love to read. But actually, I love it when my parents read to me. And I love to turn the pages before they're done and then turn back to the page where we were once they start the next page. It gets them confused. And even better are the books that have thick pages. Oh, I love to get my tiny little fingers on those. But best of all, the best books are the ones I get to put in my mouth. Mmm.

and I thought 'Butterfly Kisses' was cheesy

so I downloaded the Free Single of the Week from iTunes a couple weeks ago. I do that from time to time, just to see what's out there. This time, it was a lady singer by the name of Chrisette Michele singing a song called Your Joy. I decided to give it a listen while working in my office on something.

The lyrics were cute. From the perspective of a little girl spending time with her daddy. Then through the song she grows up. As that was happening I slowly stopped working and then I noticed my cheeks were wet when she was singing about some guy coming on a bended knee. And I thought, I'll break those knees.

i'm turning into a sappy daddy. it's hard not to be when you've got a daughter like this:
